DescriptionRole Purpose: Under the supervision of the Special Procedures Supervisor,the Special Procedures Technician performs patient care activities as assignedto assist the Physician Responsibilities: Perform scrub activities based on principles of aseptic technique, infection control, universal precautions guidelines, environmental control and personal life safety. Demonstrate critical thinking skills, ability to prioritize activities and integrate experiences across core area and call areas when performing scrub role. Demonstrate ability to perform scrub role, without assistance in core area, by locating supplies/equipment and instruments. Prepare and know the specific uses of equipment, instrumentation and supplies used for Cath Lab procedures on assigned patients in core area and call areas. Under supervision of the RN and the physician, demonstrate ability to prepare medications for procedures to be used by physician. Activities include knowledge of routine drugs used intraoperatively, dosages and/or concentration and appropriate route of administration. Demonstrate ability to anticipate needs of patient and physician in core area and call areas. Identify emergency situations and institute established procedures to respond to emergencies efficiently. Display flexibility towards schedule reassignment and assisting any employee in the Radiology/Special Procedures Department. Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position. Qualifications MinimumQualifications: Current CPR (Heartsaver)PreferredQualifications: High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous scrub tech experience preferred.
