Our Labor and Delivery nurses are changing lives for thebetter, together. We work with providers as a team, focused on our priority toprovide safe and healthy deliveries for our patients. Our experiencedLabor and Delivery nurses display integrity, professionalism, sound judgmentand are team players, paying attention to details with the ability to makequick decisions. Skilled in working in OB triage, high-risk antepartum andLabor and Delivery units, we work in a highly-collaborative environment withancillary departments, case management, medical students, residents, physiciansand midwives. We are committed to continuous performance improvement and attendtraining on a regular basis to ensure that we give the absolute best possiblecare to our patients. We train side-by-side with health care providers,which is proven to be a best practice. It is imperative that our Laborand Delivery nurses uphold the policies, protocols and behavior standards ofHillcrest Medical Center and our department.
As a Labor and Delivery nurse you have the following dutiesand responsibilities:
Providing support for the mother duringlabor
Monitoring the fetal heart rate, andmother's vital signs
Measuring the strength and timing ofcontractions
Administering medications and performingdiagnostic tests
Consulting with physicians and othermembers of the care team
Assisting with inducing labor
Coaching the mother during delivery
Identifying and assisting withcomplications
Assisting with various procedures,including Cesarean sections
Monitoring and performing tests onnewborns
Providing education and support tomothers and families after delivery
