Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive, preventative and therapeutic nursing care to patients according to Cherokee Nation's policies, standing orders, guidelines, and as ordered by the providers in the ambulatory care setting on an as needed basis.

Job Duties

Routine duties shall include providing health care services to individuals eligible for services in accordance with the self-governance compact and funding agreement between the Cherokee Nation and United States executed under the authority of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act. Screens the patients by obtaining preliminary history;  obtaining vital signs and making an assessment of the patient's condition recognizing the range of normal and abnormal findings and acting accordingly. Triages patients without an appointment and directs them appropriately. Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments according to CN policy, standing orders, guidelines and/or provider's orders. Operates a variety of medical equipment according to policy. Documents observations, assessment, referrals and nursing interventions according to CN documentation standards. Performs exams, orders test, and interprets results and acts accordingly. Assists the provider with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities using the Model for Improvement. Participates and part of the care team. Other duties may be assigned.



Associate's degree from two-year college or technical school in Nursing; no substitutions.



At least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in the past five (5) years.



An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.



Posses and maintain an Oklahoma Board of Nursing approved License.  Must be certified in CPR & maintain throughout employment.  Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of employment & maintain throughout employment.  A driver's license may be required to work in some departments.  If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.  Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.





$27.61 Hourly
