Under the general supervision, provides patient care, operates equipment and participates in routine and complex procedures involving some or all of the following: invasive cardiac catheterization, angiography, temporary pacing, pacemaker implantation, biopsies, electrophysiology, other interventional cardiac/vascular procedures, hybrid procedures and pain management procedures.
Coordinates and assumes responsibility for ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and high quality technical services and support in the assigned invasive cardiovascular service areas.
Provides patient care, operates equipment and participates in routine and complex procedures involving some or all of the following: invasive cardiac catheterization, angiography, temporary pacing, device implantation, biopsies, electrophysiology, other interventional cardiac/vascular procedures, hybrid procedures and pain management procedures.
In collaboration with the patient/family and other members of the healthcare team, assists in implementing plan of care in a developmentally appropriate manner. Notes and carries out physician orders. Reports symptoms and significant changes in patients condition to appropriate personnel.
Utilizes appropriate patient/family teaching methods and ensures education needs are met for both pre and post procedures.
Assists in the evaluation of patient responses to care and makes appropriate adjustments as necessary.
Utilizes available information to evaluate patient progress toward attainment of targeted outcomes
Perform scrub and monitor role.
Assist and instruct less experienced CVTs in both monitoring and scrub.
Under supervision of physician can give medications per scope of practice and within the competencies of the department.
Prepares patient for procedure
Confirms procedural paperwork is complete
Assists physicians with all aspects of invasive procedure
Carries out physician orders
Stock replenishment in rooms
Transfer of patients to and from department
Performs other duties as assigned
Education: Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular program OR graduate of an accredited Radiographic Program OR
Successful completion of Paramedic training program and two (2) years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab preferred or
two (2) years of hospital and/or pre-hospital experience. Advanced ECG interpretation skills required.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Registered as a Radiographer with the American Registry of Radiological
Technology (ARRT) OR Current valid Oklahoma license issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a Paramedic.
BLS upon hire. ACLS within one year of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of radiological equipment used in performing invasive cardiac catheterization procedures. Knowledge of medical terminology relating to cardiac procedures and radiography. Knowledge of invasive cardiac procedures, photographic principles and of anatomy and physics. Skill in performing invasive cardiac catheterization procedures, vascular and pain management procedures. Skill in observing, evaluating and caring for critically ill patients during procedures. Skill in effective verbal communications and in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other. Must possess extensive knowledge of anatomy for coronary, peripheral vascular as well as anatomy pertinent to device placement. Able to perform scrub role in a variety of procedures.
