Surgical Services Coordinator - Surgery
Shift: Weekdays - Full Time
OU Medical Center Edmond - Edmond, OK
Under general direction, responsible for supporting the surgical services staff in the use of computer system applications.
Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.
Assists with the maintenance, installation and user education related to the use of current and new system applications.
Assists with ensuring data integrity through periodic audits and review of policies and procedures in the use of supplied system software.
Functions in the charge audit nurse role as necessary to complete billing/charging.
Extracts and analyzes data from the OR systems.
Assists with the production of required reports.
Provides daily support to the surgical services staff and OR application users to resolve issues related to scheduling, charges, auditing, physician privileges, patient profiles and procedure names.
Assists Information Services in the coordination of hardware issues and troubleshooting.
Provides support to hospital staff with questions or issues for all electronic systems used in surgical services such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, network drives, SMART and file maintenance.
Provides support as requested and coordinates with other hospital department needs as they interface to the OR applications nursing/scheduling documentation.
Performs other duties as assigned
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
Experience: Three (3) years experience in the Operating Room
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Current license by the State of Oklahoma as a Registered Nurse. BLS upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated knowledge of computers and patient care information systems, preferable Meditech. Ability to extract and analyze data. Basic understanding of computer email, spreadsheets and word processing. Knowledge of processional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures used in an operating room. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and ensure quality patient care. Basic ability to educate staff using adult learning techniques.
