Shift: Weekdays 8A - 4:30P

General Description:

Under administrative direction, coordinates the various transplant activities to ensure quality patient care is delivered.

Essential Responsibilities:

Maintains a current database of all resources, agencies, hospitals, etc. that provide transplant services.
Educates the physicians, staff, patients, and families about the procedures, expectations and anticipated results involved in a transplant procedure.
Coordinates the admission and discharge of patients; provides follow-up contact through the clinic.
Assesses the patients readiness to undergo a transplant; assists with nursing care as needed.
Participates in research projects; implements research-based changes through the education of staff and physicians.
Develops quality assurance indicators. Serves as a preceptor to students and new unit employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate from an approved nursing program

Experience: Two (2) years experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting or in a transplant program.

Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Possession of a valid permanent license or temporary license issued by

the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing (If working under a temporary license, you must obtain a permanent license within three (3) months of employment). BLS (American Heart Association) upon hire. ACLS (American Heart Association) within 1 year of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, procedures and standards. Skill in planning and organizing nursing care, applying advanced nursing clinical skills, maintaining records and charts, preparing written reports and maintaining effective working relationships with other. Knowledge of resources available in the community for transplant patients to access for follow-up care. Good computer skills. Good patient assessment skills.
